I haven't posted much on the subject but Tatum talks about "Baby Payton"/ "my sister" all the time. Dustin and I have gotten use to, "I miss Baby Payton", "I love my sister", and "I wish Baby Payton come here". Yet, there are occasional statements which we are not prepared for. How can anyone prepare for, "Baby Payton come have a sleepover", "I share my bathroom with Baby Payton", "we go mountains to visit my sister", or the most heartbreaking "I never met my sister". This from a 2, now 3 year old.
Although Dustin and I were never going to be emotionally ready, we took down Payton's room for Tatum's sake. While organizing the 'office' she and I came across a picture of Payton's feet. Tatum said, "Picture of Baby Payton's feet. Where picture of her face? I didn't get hold Baby Payton. I hold her in Heaven". Tears! So often I am amazed at her love, compassion, and faith- complete and utter blind faith.
