Our Story

Dustin and I met at a party in February 2005. According to Dustin, he and I had a long conversation. He was interested but I didn't remember him.

A week later I “met” Dustin at a bar downtown. We danced and chatted until the bar closed. Dustin could not find his friend and ride home. My roommate suggested he spend the night at our apartment and she would drive him home the next day. Dustin agreed, for some reason thinking he was going to get lucky (he was wrong!). In the end, Dustin’s friend came back for him. The next afternoon I received a voice message from Dustin saying, “I’m so glad I didn’t go home with you ladies last night because my dog was sick and I have to work”. What guy says that? I thought Dustin is either dumb or goofy. Anyone who knows me knows I love tall goofy guys. I thought this guy might be worth finding out which he is.

Days later, we went on our first. When Dustin arrived an hour late (he stopped to buy a sewing kit to replace a button on his shirt because he wanted to make a good impression) I was surprised. He was not the man I thought I was going out with but I went anyway. Dustin had planned dinner at a restaurant that was no longer opened. After an hour and half of driving around, we ended up at an Italian restaurant, Il Fornaio followed by Dave & Busters. Although I enjoyed beating him at every game (Dustin still says he let me win- yea right!) the date was not impressive. However, Dustin thought the date went well. He asked me on a second, third, and forth date; due to the pressure from my roommate I agreed.

As we continued to date, Dustin's personality began to show through. He was goofy! We had a wonderful time being goofy and laughing together. One of my favorite memories is a Twizzlers fight in the car. I of coarse won that game too! We quickly fell in love.

Dustin proposed on October 29, 2006. We went to a pumpkin patch to pick our own pumpkins. Dustin craved a big hole in the middle of his pumpkin. He placed the ring inside. It was perfect, well it would have been perfect if only I saw the ring.
We knew we wanted to spend our lives together and were excited to begin. Oh, and we could not wait for the honeymoon to Costa Rica, what a blast. Within nine weeks, we quickly planned our wedding. Everything about our wedding day was beautiful. Even the next morning, forgetting we had gotten married, I woke up screaming "No! No! No! No! You cannot see me before the wedding".
Team Coleman was formed!
A few months after we were married we decided to expand our family. We thought it might take months before we were pregnant. To our surprise, one month later we were expecting a baby. We were thrilled!

We spent our first anniversary in the hospital. Dustin tried to arrange for the restaurant we had reservations for, Frasca, to cook us a meal that he could pick up for us to have at the hospital. They were unable to so he prepared a steak and lobster meal in the beverage station at the hospital. He even made a CD so we could dance in the hospital room. It was a wonderful evening.
